Misadventures in Cat Fostering: The Ringworm Crisis

I have had a crappy day.

I’ve told you before about the adorable foster kittens I have been taking care of for the past two weeks…

When I got them two weeks ago, they were infested with fleas and the baby (pictured in the front of the photo) was covered in scabs. I bathed them and removed their fleas, but the baby’s skin didn’t seem to be healing properly. She had bald patches all over, and itched quite a bit – even though there were no fleas. Last week, after I returned from Pensacola, I noticed a splotch on my neck, and by this weekend, it still hadn’t gone away, so I got nervous.

Well, long story short, I had to take them back to the Humane Society today…

Because they are infested with ringworms.

And guess who got a ringworm on her neck?

ME!

This is not exactly my favorite day ever.

Now, please excuse me while I wash every piece of cloth in the house, steam clean my carpets and mattresses and bleach every square inch of surface.

And slather anti-fungal cream on my face.

Ugh.
