Day 4 of Lifetime’s 7 Days of Sex Challenge is “Hump Day: Get out of the house! Ask your friends what they think of the experiment and decide together where your getaway for the day will be. Invite your spouse to go with you via a sexy text.”

Asking our friends what they thought of the experiment was actually a lot of fun. We told most of our friends at my birthday party Friday night about the 7 Days of Sex Challenge and they all thought it was hilarious – they know that my husband travels for work 50% of the time, so they assumed we did this when he was in town anyway! We chatted for probably an hour about the challenge, about the new Lifetime show and about the obstacles we were going to face in getting the challenge accomplished each day.

The fact that the alcohol was flowing at my party probably made this conversation a lot more comfortable that it would have otherwise been. Hey, just keeping it real here…

Now, we didn’t actually get out of the house yesterday, although that was the prompt. Because we went out Friday and Saturday, we didn’t want to leave Angeline at home again – we had hardly spent any time with her this weekend. Plus, it was raining cats and dogs all day! We decided to save the date night for Monday and just spend the day at home with her, doing housework and watching TV. We ordered pizza for dinner and just had a fun, relaxing day.

Instead of sending a sexy text inviting my husband on a date, I invited him to turn off the TV and come join me in the bedroom.

Enough said, right?

I find as I am participating in the challenge, I am breaking lots of rules. The idea of having sex for 7 days in a row seems so simple, but in reality, there are a lot of things that get in the way of following the prompts each day. And this is coming from a woman who works from home (just on the blog, no outside work) and has a 14 year old daughter who practically takes care of herself!

If it’s this difficult for me to follow the prompts, I can’t even imagine how hard it is for a working mom to little kids – which is why I think it’s so important for couples to participate in this challenge…while we may not be following the prompts exactly, we are still learning how important it is to make time for each other and focus on each other.

If you haven’t seen Lifetime’s 7 Days of Sex yet, I urge you to check it out! It is on Thursday nights at 10 pm est on the Lifetime channel.

I received a survival kit to use while participating in the Lifetime’s 7 Days of Sex Challenge. All opinions are my own!

I agree it is tough to fit intimacy in… we’re all so overworked any more. It’s hard to get into the mood when you’re exhausted. But at least being aware of it, and trying to make the time for each other, is a good thing.

I have a baby and a 6 year old. My husband works out of town and sleeps in a hotel room more than he sleeps at home. Finding time is always such a challenge. We made time this weekend (4 times actually) and while we never left the house and just had a lazy weekend at home, we both said what a great weekend it was.

I wish time, work or the kids were our relationship excuses but in reality, they’re the least of our obstacles. Although we did try a similar challenge last year, if I remember right it only last 2 days. 😛

I agree that sometimes life gets in the way of showing your mate you “appreciate” them. I love to show my “appreciation” when hubby does something sweet for me. I think I should appreciate him more, wink wink.
