Can you believe that the official date of spring (March 20th) is just a month away? With the coming of Spring comes the need to throw up the windows and do a bit of spring cleaning, of course! When it comes to spring cleaning, my goal is to work smarter, not harder. I certainly love a clean and freshly organized house, but I don’t necessarily love the act of cleaning itself. It would seem that I’m not the only one who feels that way. A few days ago I fell down the rabbit hole that is the internet and stumbled across an article about cleaning in the 1950s…Did you know that housework in the 1950s took a whopping 57 hours a week on average? 42 hours of “general housework” and 15-20 hours of “deep cleaning.” I can not even make this up.

FOURTY TWO HOURS. Far less surprising was the fact that today we average just 1 to 2 hours a week per household. Part of that is credited to a whole generation of women who decided they had better things to do with their time. A large part of the credit also goes to beautiful inventions like the dishwasher, robot vacuums, and multipurpose cleaning products. According to Currys PC World, which commissioned the research, today we are doing 55 hours less, at just one to two hours per week, per household.

No one likes to spend more time cleaning than we have to, so products that do what they say and can be used for multiple purposes are a big time WIN in my book. I was recently sent a variety of Skout’s Honor MultiPurpose Cleaning Products (click here to find out where to buy).

Skouts Honor

They’re a line of natural, non-toxic,  earth-friendly, biodegradable and cruelty-free products. So what does that mean? Well it means they’re good for the environment and safe to use around your pets, your family and your home! With three cats and two dogs in our home, pet-friendly products are a definite must!

Skout’s Honor is a California based start up with a passion for creating quality products that make a difference. They are a premium household cleaning brand with a line of thoughtfully designed products for individuals and families with pets. Skout’s Honor is an environmentally and socially conscious company. They strive to make Better, Faster, Stronger natural cleaning solutions for everyday pet stains and odors.

What’s great about these products is that they can be used for more than what’s advertised on the label. For example, the Stain & Odor Remover isn’t just for pet stains. It can also be used to treat stains on clothing, get out those tough wine and coffee stains and more!

While the Odor Eliminator is meant for those stinky pet odors (Eau de wet dog, anyone?) but also works great at knocking out stinky odors in the kitchen – like the garbage disposals and trash cans, as well as your baby diaper pails…which can stink a whole lot more than pet smells! That Litter Box Deodorizer is a huge blessing in our house with three cats…seriously, you haven’t smelt STINK until you’ve bent over a litter box that three cats use!

As a lover of all animals, and the environment, it’s easy to be won over by Skout’s Honor line of products. The products all come with the Skout’s Paw Pledge. For every product sold, a day’s worth of food is donated to an animal shelter in need. As any animal lover knows, our local animal shelters are always in need of help, and I love that Skout’s Honor gives back!

I wasn’t aware of this previously but will be looking for it at PetSmart. Our cat doesn’t have accidents but he has been throwing up his food more, so need to clean that up. Stain remover is what we need.
